Qualifications

  1. Have current CPR/First Aid and CPI certifications or obtain these certifications within 3 months of hiring

  2. Be fingerprinted and obtain Live Scan clearance through Licensing

  3. Have and maintain current biennial Medical Health clearance including passing TB screening

  4. Have Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 certificate within 1 year of date of hire

  5. Have DSP 2 certificate within 2 years of date of hire

  6. Have valid work authorization for employment in the US

  7. Have 6+ months of related work experience


Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of each resident by providing a safe, comfortable, clean, and supportive living environment.

  2. Implement emergency procedures when required to assure Duty #1. Provide and participate in monthly emergency drills.

  3. Provide basic first aid for accident and/or bedside care for minor, temporary consumer illness.

  4. Provide prescribed medical care, assure and document medication administration, also assure timely refill of prescriptions, and regular medical exams (annual physical and dental exams).

  5. Meal preparation per facility menu and client dietary needs; also purchase weekly groceries to allow menu implementation.

  6. Provide supervision and support for clients when assigned responsibility for this (i.e. community outings, appointments, in-house activities, and anytime responsible for supervision of clients).

  7. Monitor and assure resupply and proper maintenance of client’s clothing, toiletries. Provide record/inventory and appropriate marking of client’s personal belongings.

  8. Implement client’s ongoing treatment program and document progress as required.

  9. Provide documentation on any incident related to client’s medical care, field trips, overnight visits, special events, special incidents, client funds and weight, and emergency drill participation.

  10. Enforce house rules.

  11. Maintain cooperative and ongoing relationships with clients, families, other staff, outside agencies’ representatives.

  12. Notify management immediately of any emergency, special incident, or need for support, supply or repair.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
